Dear_____________ and Family,
I am overjoyed that you will be joining us at Kids' Kingdom Family Child Care. I would like to take this time to give you a small introduction to a typical day and answer some questions you may have. Enclosed, you will find information regarding our schedule and our daily activities. As always, please feel free to address any specific questions with me. I can't wait to get to know you!
Sincerely,
Miss Danielle
1. How many children and what ages are cared for?
Kids’ Kingdom Family Child Care is licensed to care for up to 6 children ages 6 weeks-12 years (including provider’s non-school age children. There will never be more than 3 children under 2 years old in care at any given time.
2. Are there any pets in the home?
At this time, the only pets we own are fresh water aquarium fish. The children often enjoy helping to feed the fish and watching them swim about. Parents would be notified in advance if any additional pets were to be added to the home.
3. Where will my child's belongings be?
Every child has a labeled hook to keep his/her coat/backpack on and a file folder for papers. Please remove all items (papers, projects, memos, etc.) each night from their folder. All other items may be placed in their sleep drawer.
4. What should be kept in the sleep drawer?
If your child stays for rest time, he/she will have a labeled sleep drawer to keep a small pillow, blanket/sheet, small SOFT rest toy and a complete change of clothes. All items must fit inside drawers. Miss Danielle will wash all sleep items weekly or more often as needed.
5. What toys can be brought to school?
In order to prevent loss or breakage of personal belongings, as well as hurt feelings amongst friends, I ask that all toys, cards, etc. (other than rest item or Show & Share) remain at home.
6. What if my child needs a change of clothes?
Children learn through play, and play is not always mess free! As careful as we are during the day, accidents and spills are bound to occur. This is why I ask that 1 complete change of clothes, 3 if potty training, (socks, underwear, shirt, pants/shorts) be kept in a labeled bag in your child's sleep drawer. Kids' Kingdom does have a limited supply of extra clothes for emergencies, however, I can not ensure availability of these clothes.
7. What is the daily schedule?
Please CLICK HERE to learn more about our schedule.
8. How will I know what my child did today?
A "What I Learned Today" report will be left in your child's folder (located in the front foyer) each day, as well as any other memos. Also, lesson plans for the week will always be posted and a monthly newsletter is distributed at the beginning of the month to let you know of any upcoming special events, holidays/closings, etc. Please feel free to ask about any specific questions you may have. Any further notices can also be found on the Parent Message Board (also located in front foyer).
9. Do I need to provide a lunch?
Kids' Kingdom does provides all snacks and meals for children over 1 year of age. Meals and snack times are listed below. All meals are prepared to meet or exceed Massachusetts State Nutritional Guidelines. Weekly menus will be posted and distributed. If your child will be arriving after a meal/snack time, please feed them before drop-off. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO ON MEALS/MENUS
10. What is the bathroom/diapering procedure?
Fortunately, a bathroom is located on the first floor, adjacent to the kitchen. Children are encouraged to use the bathroom independently as needed (informing a teacher who will then stand within sight of the child to offer assistance if needed). For the safety of the children, I always ask that they leave the door at least partially open. Diapers are checked/changed every 2 hours or more often as needed. Parents must supply diapers and wipes. If a child is out of diapers or wipes, an emergency supply fee of $1/diaper and $3.50/container of wipes will be added on for the day.
11. Which door do I use for drop-off/pick-up?
Families may enter and exit through the front door. Please be sure to wipe and/or remove shoes before entering to prevent dirtying the floors that the children are often playing on. If we are playing outside when you arrive, there will be a note on the front door and you may walk around back to the play yard.
12.When and where can I pay tuition?
There is a locked tuition box located in the front foyer next to the Parents' Message Board. Please make all payments no later than Thursday morning in order to avoid late fees. I accept cash (please place in envelope with child's name on it), personal check, or money order.
13. Is evening/overnight care available?
Occasionally child care is available on evenings, weekends, and for overnight care. Any arrangements outside of contracted hours will need to be made on an individual basis at which times rates will be discussed.
14. How can I obtain free care?
Referrals are one of the biggest compliments in the child care field. Should a family you refer enroll a child at Kids’ Kingdom, you will receive one free day of care after the child has attended for 3 contracted weeks.
